“Nothing has changed in the enemy’s policy, it’s just another promotional statement”, said politician Sergey Minasyan to Aravot.am commenting on the recent statement by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov that “Such impression has formed that the withdrawal of the troops, instead of peace, or areas, instead of peace, is possible.”
In his opinion, the negotiations on the Karabakh conflict settlement are in the deadlock, “Actually, their discussions are not about the withdrawal of the troops or other issues, but they are about trust and control mechanisms, which Azerbaijan has failed. As long as there is no change by Azerbaijan side, in general, there is no expectation of change.”
According to the politician, Azerbaijan is resisting against Vienna and St. Petersburg arrangements as it understands, that if they bring them to life, it will lose the opportunity to threaten and implement actions along the border. Referring to the recent incident when the Azerbaijani side had damaged military equipment of the Armenian side Sergey Minasyan said that such provocations could exacerbate the situation.
