RPA held a meeting of the Executive body and the council. After the meeting, the spokesman of the party Eduard Sharmazanov told the journalists that Serzh Sargsyan has suggested the candidacy of Ara Babloyan as the president of NA. As he had mentioned before the session, the NA vice presidents are Eduard Sharmazanov and Arpine Hovhannisyan. He also informed that Vahram Baghdasaryan was appointed as the head of the RPA faction, and Gagik Melikyan as the secretary.
Eduard Sharmazanov also informed that on May 18 the RPA faction will come up with a new proposal to make some changes in the NA regulations, and according to that the 12 standing committees will be reduced to 9.
“And according to Dont’s formula we will have the right to propose 6 of them, and the candidates for chairmen of those 6 committees are the following: the chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee Gagik Minasyan, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Armen Ashotyan, chairman of Committee of Economic Affairs Khosrov Harutyunyan, chairman of State and Legal Affairs Hrayr Tovmasyan, chairman of Internal and Security Affairs Committee Koryun Nahapetyan and the chairman of Health and Social Affairs Committee Hakob Hakobyan,”- said Sharmazanov.
The spokesman of the RPA added that the government officers will resign according to the established order. According to him the RPA candidate for prime minister is Karen Karapetyan and after the decision of the RPA council, Karen Karapetyan will be the head of the new government.
Sharmazanov said that the question of the ministers has not been discussed yet.
“And as to Mr. Babloyan, he has years of experience and wise past. We hope that with him we can work more productively. The cooperation with all the 105 deputies, I imagine only with the principle of the benefit for the republic,”- concluded Sharmazanov.
