Expert Vardan Voskanyan believes that in the presidential election of Iran the main struggle will be between reform leader, president-in-office Hassan Rouhani and conservative Ebrahim Raisi.
“The main struggle will unfold between these two candidates. It is quite difficult to predict any of the favorites’ victory in this stage as the result of social queries is almost equal. But Iranian voters are too unpredictable and they frequently change their decisions. So, everything will be decided on Election Day”, said the expert during the press conference.
He also noted that Iran, unlike Armenia, has adopted the culture of electoral debate which is proven by the debates of candidates and the use of political technologies.
”As for the Armenian community, then it is free to express its will. However, many people feel sympathy for the president-in-office, but there are also people who defend Raisin.”
Referring to the Armenian-Iranian economic relations, Mr. Voskanyan said, “We have had significant achievements and shortcomings after sanctions. The main achievement is the construction of the third high-voltage power station. The main shortcoming is the problem of communication between Armenia and Iran. I am talking about the construction of the railway and the North-South highway which are still in no way being implemented.”
