May 19,2017 20:40

“For the first time we witnessed addressed accusations, according to that, on May 15 the Azerbaijani side struck the military equipment of the Armenian side, after which the Armenian side gave an adequate response to those actions,” said Military Expert Taron Hovhannisyan during the press conference referring to the statement by the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, in which they had accused Azerbaijan of causing tension in the contact line in recent days.

Taron Hovhannisyan said that the addressed statement of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group is the result of the policy of activated negotiations.

He noted that the addressed assessment was an important statement and the Armenian side should use it in the negotiation process. “It should be one of our main cards, in other words, if Azerbaijan stops its those kinds of actions in a certain period of time, it means that the addressed statement of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group had its impact, if the Azerbaijani side again take similar actions, which probability is not very high, then we can use the card, that is, the Azerbaijani side even after the addressed assessment  does not take the statement of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group into consideration, disrupting the negotiation process, which can also give us some dividends.”

According to expert, in addition to international influence, the military response of the Armenian side to the Azerbaijani actions were important, “Such steps will also serve as a deterrent factor, as the adopted official policy of Azerbaijan does not fit into the logic to solve the problems in the process of negotiation. They should be ready to get a military response if they use military actions.”
