During the press conference political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan singled out the review of president’s speech in Parliament that saying compromises in the negotiations of Artsakh conflict we understand implementation of self-determination right of Artsakh, recognition of the independence of Artsakh: “If until the April war in the context of compromise they were speaking about territorial concession today Armenian side bases compromises on the recognition of Artsakh”, noted political scientist.

We asked him, in that case what is Azerbaijan going to demand if not territorial concession: “I am sure Azerbaijan will not recognize the independence of Artsakh, and the Armenian side will not make territorial concessions. No matter how much we officially announce that we are ready to make territorial concessions and get the independence of Artsakh, but there are no mechanisms to implement it. That is why it is difficult to say what Azerbaijan will want in return”, answered Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan.

The political scientist emphasized that Serzh Sargsyan criticized the Madrid principles which mean that it will be impossible to rely on that document. According to the expert, that Azerbaijan does not start a war because its wishes do not match its opportunities: “In case of full-scale war the international process of recognition of Artsakh will start, it can have irreversible consequences for Azerbaijan.”
