‘No intensification as in April war will happen, but the probability must not be ignored’, Iskandaryan

May 24,2017 15:51

“Nothing was new in the speech. It is clear, that the “Madrid Document” is on the table, there is no other document”, said politician Alexander Iskandaryan during the press conference, referring to the newly elected president’s speech at the NA session. “It is hard to imagine, that Azerbaijan will make painful concessions. There are no chances to legally regulate the conflict. The Republic of Armenia has no allies in the negotiation process”, noted Alexander Iskandaryan.

He believes that the border tension is a result of the internal political intensifications in Azerbaijan. “The decline in oil prices and financial-economic issues are causing serious problems among the Azerbaijani elite. Clan struggles are being carried out, and soldiers are being arrested”. However, according to the politician, there will be no intensification as during the April four-day war, but the probability must not be ignored. “It requires a lot of training and money from Azerbaijan”.
