Constantinople Armenians and Turkish authorities in wait of Archbishop Garegin Bekchyan’s arrival

Regional expert Sarkis Hatspanian denied recent widespread rumors as if Turkish authorities had told, that, “it is not the time to organize elections for the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople”. “The Constantinople vicegerency has phoned the elected vicar Archbishop Garegin Bekchyan for three times asking to arrive in Constantinople as soon as possible.Turkish authorities are looking forward to his arrival, and they are for immediate elections”, assured Sarkis Hatspanian.

According to his report, the arrangements for the Constantinople Patriarch’s elections will start within ten days, the elections are scheduled for October, and before those candidates will meet Constantinople Armenians. Archbishop Garegin Bekchyan, one of the Patriarch candidates, will return to Turkey soon. He will be solemnly welcomed, after which he will enter the Patriarchate as a full and equal member.
