“I know 15 Iranian businessmen who have made investments in Armenia, have tried to establish a production of glue and napkins, but they have gone bankrupt, and have left, also letting their Iranian partners know about their experience”, said Iranologist Emma Begijanyan.
According to her, Armenian investment policies do not attract Iranians. They prefer to make large-scale investments, for example, in Turkey, “Armenians import more products into Armenian market from Turkey than from their neighbour-friend Iran”.
The expert believes that Armenia can cooperate with Iran almost in every field. For example, the recently opened famous Iranian “Halal” certification office in Armenia can contribute to the growth of exports from Armenia to Iran. “If we wisely use “Halal”, we will be able to make exports not only to Iran but to Arabic markets as well. Relations in Islam are either “halal” or “haram”. In our case, we talk about “halal” food. Islamic “Halal” restaurants may be set up in Armenia”.
The expert added that dog and pork are “haram” in Quran.
