Within the military journalism training organized by the RA Ministry of Defence, the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, an RPA member Artak Zakaryan met with participant-journalists. The journalists expressed their concern about the information outflow referring to the number, and location of soldiers, etc. on the tv-program “On the Posts”.
“There are information criteria that may not be published. Amateur reporting can hardly be considered a professional program”, noticed Artak Zakaryan.
He added that in general, there are no legal tools to control the flow of information in this area, therefore, the Defence Ministry reviews the problems of military field coverage in media.
To the journalists’ remark whether the staff of “On the Posts” has the permission of the Ministry of Defence, the Deputy Minister said, “The question is of moral-psychological significance: encouragement, inspiration, reports about soldiers’ heroisms. But enthusiasm sometimes goes too far”.
