Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received First Vice President of Russian Railways JSC Alexander Misharin and Director General South Caucasus Railways CJSC (SCR) Sergey Valko. The meeting focused on the ongoing and planned activities of South Caucasus Railways CJSC.
Mr Misharin noted that all the commitments assumed under the concession agreement had been implemented, including investment programs. Passenger traffic is up 4%, while freight transportations have grown 3%. A new SCR development program is being developed, which implies new logistic services, improved infrastructures, multimodal transportations, establishment of a freight terminal in Armenia and so on.
Appreciating the proposed activities, Prime Minister Karapetyan said Armenia is interested in the development of the SCR and stressed that improved infrastructure will help increase freight and passenger traffic, considering the constant increase in tourist inflow.
