Ishkhanyan on LGBT advertisement, ‘Mayor praised humaneness, so does our advertisement’

May 30,2017 14:39

A representative of the “Pink Armenia – Public Information and Need of Knowledge” NGO, which ordered the poster, Hovhannes Ishkhanyan said that there had been no illegal notes on the stand, and that it was relevant to a social advertisement, “And for that we will address the Municipality to approve it as a social advertisement”.

According to Ishkhanyan, the Municipality could intervene if there were any illegal entries, “Only formally the company had to ask for permission. That is, if the company had not addressed and the posters were left, it means there was no violation, so why to remove it”.

In response to the question, whether the company had applied for permission, and what company it was, Mr. Ishkhanyan said, “The advertisement company hadn’t applied, although it was their duty. Now it will, as we are going to bring the stand back. Now as it applies, we will see what will happen, whether there is any violation, and if there is, then they must explain what violation it is”.

Ishkhanyan said they do not want to reveal which advertisement company it was yet, but it is not a new company in the field, “Yes, the company had not applied, but in practice, it could place the stand without an approval”.

As far as discrimination is concerned, Ishkhanyan said, “What’s the problem? “Aurora” advertised kindness and humaneness, so do we. The mayor has praised humaneness, so does our advertisement. That is, if it was a social advertisement against child abuse, they would not permit. There are such people among us, and they are members of our society. If that is his personal approach, then there is discrimination, and so there is the need for this advertisement”, said Ishkhanyan referring to Araz Baghdasaryan’s recent remark.
