‘Artsakh is an integral part of Armenia’, Bakur Karapetyan

June 07,2017 17:55

The head of the «Shushi» foundation, Bakur Karapetyan responded to the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev with a historical background, proving that the Artsakh Republic has been the traditional successor of Artsakh 8 states since the 3rd century. “On every occasion, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and other officials say, Karabakh is our land, we will not allow a second Armenian state there. First, Artsakh-Karabakh has never been Azerbaijani land. Several times during its history Artsakh became a part of the Persian Empire, but no Iranian, who respects his history will ever claim that Artsakh is Iranian land”, said Bakur Karapetyan.

According to him, Artsakh along with Armenia Major has also been conquered by Mongol invaders during the middle ages, later it was ruled by Russian Empire, and even later by Soviet Union. How the representative of the nomadic people, mistakenly appeared in Transcaucasia from Central Asian deserts, dares to chase the native peoples, to misappropriate their land, culture, and to eliminate their identity? For eight times Artsakh had to create a separate state to preserve its Armenian identity, culture, language, and whenever a favourable opportunity presented itself Artsakh united with its homeland, as Artsakh is an inseparable part of Armenia.

Bakur Karapetyan said, “We must stand up for our land, Artsakh is our country”.
