“Dear Taron, Yerevan has many problems waiting for a solution, you have no right to disappoint us”, said President Serzh Sargsyan during his speech addressing to Taron Margaryan, who took an oath shortly before the speech.
Taron Margaryan’s oath-taking ceremony took place in the City Hall, during the second Elders’ session, with the participation of almost all senior officials: former mayors, social, political and cultural figures. Once Taron Margaryan took his oath, the Yerevan anthem played. Taron Margaryan swore to observe the RA Constitution, laws, Elders’ decisions, to “honestly and faithfully perform the duties of a mayor”, in implementing the powers of the Mayor of Yerevan.
The RA President Serzh Sargsyan urged Taron Margaryan not to disappoint, “Dear Taron, you have no right to disappoint us. You do not since you are Andranik Margaryan’s son and one of the Republican leaders”. The president said that it’s also Andranik Margaryan’s birthday.
Serzh Sargsyan also said that there are still a number of problems concerning waste recycling, transport, communal communities, etc.
