Mehriban Aliyeva is the Vice-President of the country waging war against Armenia, the sponsor and the leader of propaganda spreading lies and aspersions addressed to my state and my nation. But when her father-in-law’s brother starts spreading personal gossips about her love affairs before marriage, in this case, she becomes mere a woman for me: I consider talking about such topics and discussing this woman’s and all the other women’s personal behavior inappropriate for a man, and generally for a human. When we are after this level of rumors and spread those for propaganda purposes, as if, look, this is what our enemy looks like, to me, it anyway looks nasty.
I deliberately consider this extreme case referring to one of the leaders of our enemy state to show that even in this case we should not speak out as a moralist and a judge. Unfortunately, the mass media and mass culture pave the way for being a judge of others’ behavior. Henrikh Mkhitaryan went somewhere with a girl. People cannot calm down for two days discussing this ordinary fact which does not appear in public interest. The discussion is based on a very simple psychological mechanism: why ain’t I so famous and popular to go somewhere with that guy or that girl? “Such an irony of fate!”. The whole “yellow press” is based on envy and inferiority complex when people are given a false measure of “success” or “splendor” that everyone has to follow.
A man, whose life is gray and poor, strives to famous people’s “colorful” lives. The way every person imagines those “colors” depends on the power of imagination: maybe it is just eating kebab for three times a day, or perhaps having yachts, castles or vehicles of a certain “class”. Also, “models” from shiny magazine covers. People admire them, but also blame: “Did you see what that shameless was wearing?” There is not a great choice among the measures to fill the emptiness of life.
In fact, it is like a cigarette: it relaxes for the first few seconds and then puts into a deeper depression.
