June 17,2017 17:54

Year to year the number of the inclusion of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia in migration processes increases. People aged 18-54 leave the Republic of Armenia as labor migrants, 77% of whom are men, as informed by the president of “Return and Protection” social-legal NGO Tatevik Bezhanyan.

As she stated, pursuant to the latest state order surveys, the number of long-term labor migrants until 2015 amounted to 35k, the 50% of whom were permanent migrants: “The 95% of Armenian migrants have worked in the Russian Federation, in the result of the economic decrease of which the migration has decreased. A part  of them returned because they were not able to earn as much as in the previous years, and a part of them never returned.”

The expert noted their concern that the brain outflow of the 90s will recur: “Now we have a sex ratio disorder, acceleration of aging, issues of socialization of the new generation and welfare of the elderly people.”

Tatevik Bezhanyan also mentioned that the results on 2017 migration will be published this year.
