Literary critic suggests a Constantinople-Armenian musician’s song as an anthem

June 17,2017 20:50

Literary critic Davit Gasparyan referred to Charles Aznavour’s opinion about his wish to see Georges Garvarentz’s “For you, Armenia” song as the anthem of the Republic of Armenia. “We are used to our anthem. If we want to change, there should be a serious discussion”, noted David Gasparyan.

Then he suggested to accept Constantinople-Armenian musician Gabriel Yeranian’s song “For Armenia” based on Hovhan Vanandetsi’s poem as the RA anthem.

“The famous songs “Cilicia”, and “Armenian heroes” belong to him. He was such an eminent musician, that was publishing musical press entitled “Armenian lyre” in Constantinople”, noted David Gasparyan.

As he said, Charents’ “I love my sweet Armenia” poem, on which Tigran Mansuryan has composed music, could also be accepted as Armenia’s anthem. “I like Mansuryan very much, but that music is not for an anthem”, opined David Gasparyan.
