June 19,2017 18:36

“We should put tasks in front of you on what you should do in Yerevan”: declared the former president of the Parliament of Artsakh, the Member of the Parliament from “Free Motherland” party Arthur Tovmasyan during the 3rd conference of Armenian political parties. He announced that in the case of the recommencement of military operations the political forces of Armenia should articulate the question of the recognition of Artsakh independence. He brought it in line with the Armenian-Turkish protocols remaining on the large agenda of the Parliament of Armenia. As stated by Arthur Tovmasyan, the question of Artsakh recognition can be treated the same way: “Discuss it and leave the voting for later.”

Asked whether Artsakh recognition is a unique threat, “punishment”, which in the political sense is favorable to implement as a response to the war, the Member of the Parliament from “Free Motherland” party referred not solely to the mentioned, but the projects to be carried out on the frontline alike, particularly 24 hour water supply for the accomplishment of which the participation of the Armenian figures is important as well.

Armen Ashotyan, the President of the Commission of Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly, which should give a conclusion on such initiative, considered this step as an “atomic bomb” one of a kind during the interview: “To put the question on the agenda, to simply discuss it and leave it on the agenda is not right, in our opinion, forasmuch as this is not a question to merely remain on the agenda as a political phenomena, similar to the Armenian-Turkish protocols.”
