An Armenian family has miraculously escaped the Grenfell Tower highrise inferno in London , where 79 people are confirmed dead so far.
Mesrob Kassemdjian told 4 News TV how he helped his 68 year old aunt to escape the building at the time of the fire.
“We were able to get out, but we lost everything. Now, all I have is what I’m wearing and my phone”, he said.
Kasemjian said he heard noises, and then looked out of the window and saw that the building is on fire.
“I saw that the fire was rising very quickly. My aunt was asleep, I woke her up, and we started to go down the stairs. The hallways were filled with smoke. It was very difficult for my aunt because she is an elderly woman, and the smoke was getting heavier and heavier, but we managed to exit the building. When we got out I saw that one side of the building was entirely engulfed in flames”, he said.
The Grenfell Tower fire has claimed 79 lives, according to latest information. London police say the death toll may rise, since many are missing.
