Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, presenting the Government’s program for the next five years in the National Assembly, noted that it is envisaged to provide poverty reduction by 12 percent.
“Aravot” examined the poverty rate in Armenia in previous years. And so, according to a survey of household living standards, in 2004 the rate of non-poor population was 46.5 percent, poor population-53.5 percent, 32.6 percent of which-very poor, and extremely poor-4.4 percent. In 2010, the rate of non-poor population was 64.2 percent, poor population-35.8 percent, very poor of which was 21.3 percent, and extremely poor-3.0 percent. And in 2015, non-poor population comprised 70.2 percent, poor population-29.8 percent, very poor-10.4 percent, and extremely poor-2.0 percent.
