‘A program of not progress, but level off – to prolong RPA’s authority’

June 24,2017 20:41

“Yelq” bloc Member of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan thinks that the program represented by the new government confirmed by the National Assembly is not ambitious and competitive. “It is not a program of progress, but level off, which encompasses cosmetic corrections to preserve what they have and to prolong the Republican Party of Armenia’s authority. Meanwhile, countries make a progress, for example, by  contributing information technologies or developing the renewable energy”, he told.

Ararat Mirzoyan highlights that ridiculous amount of finances are envisaged for the science via the government’s program. As far as education is concerned, issues of secondary importance are pinned: “Issues of primary importance are the buildings of kindergartens in deplorable conditions. Not a line is present in the government’s program about this. There is not a notice of increasing the number of the kindergartens alike, meanwhile, we know that people stand in queues for ages for their children to be accepted to the kindergarten.”

According to the MP, there are no provisions in the government’s program to promote the international attractiveness of the higher education field: “Foreigners study mostly at Medical University… Generally, there are no favorable conditions to include students from other countries.”

Mr. Mirzoyan also emphasizes the main issues of the public education field: “First and foremost, our schools are over religious-centralized…In the meantime that the world walks in the path of science and innovation, we give our children religious education and value-system. We imply not morals, but the schools filled with church symbols and history. The situation converts from the History of Religion to religious propaganda. I am not against that the children have religious orientation, but it should be shaped at a mature age. The model of secular education is to be launched, which is based on scientific thought.”

“Yelq” MP is convinced that the current outdated education programs should also be based on scientific potential.
