“All of our systems are in need of reform, including electoral system. The noise on this was a bit too much, but any suggestions from our partners are subject to discussion, especially if they are in our interests”, said Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan during the discussion of the ongoing 2016 budget execution in the parliament. He answered Mane Tandilyan’s question, a member of “Yelq” fraction, which related to recent statements by EU Ambassador to Armenia Piotr Switalski regarding Armenia’s electoral process, which made much noise.
Let us remind, that the ambassador had also criticised the CEC, and had suggested to include members of the public sector in the commission. In Shavarsh Kocharyan’s opinion, the participation of the public sector in the work of the CEC is disputable, but inclusion in commissions can lead to more corruption risks.
