Chairman of RA Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan touched upon Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan’s appeal to test whether there is a disciplinary breach in lawyer on “Sasna Tsrer” case, Mushegh Shoushanyan’s behaviour or not. “The lawyer violated the requirement of paragraph 2.2.3 of the Code of Conduct of Lawyers, according to which, a lawyer must promote the formation and strengthening of respect for the content and the public name of lawyer’s profession through his activity in professional, social, public and other spheres”.
Ara Zohrabyan informed the journalists that a service investigation is underway.
As for the judge on the case of “Sasna Tsrer”, Artush Gabrielyan’s appeal to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer, according to which the defendant Areg Kyureghyan tried to send a note to lawyer Ara Gharagyozyan in the courtroom before the last session of the “Sasna Tsrer” case, Ara Zohrabyan said that they will examine the issue in a month.
We asked Ara Zohrabyan to comment on lawyer Arayik Papikyan’s statement on beating Arayik Khandoyan.
“I condemn any beating or violent act that contradicts the Constitution. I cannot give an assessment of what has happened because I don’t know the facts”, Ara Zohrabyan noted.
As for Jirair Sefilian’s and “Sasna Tsrer” lawyers’ complaints on that when entering the court, the bailiffs are not checking but searching them, Ara Zohrabyan said, “It’s not allowed to search a lawyer, they can only check. If the bailiff takes his hand into the bag, it will be a search. If the lawyer opens the bag, it’s a check”.
