What do the Armenian migrants do in the homeland after returning from Europe?

Since December 2016, the Armenian agency of “French Office of Immigration and Integration” has been implementing the “Reintegration policy for Armenian returnees” program for migrants who return. Returned migrants apply to the “Reintegration Guidance Centre” operating in the RA State Migration Service, which provides information on reintegration opportunities and services, legal, psychological and social counseling. The center assesses the needs of migrants and guides them toward certain programs implemented by state and non-state structures.

For example, volunteer or forced returnees from EU countries study table decoration, make-up, hairdressing free of charge at Yerevan state regional college N1. During the interview with Aravot.am college director Paruyr Santrosyan noted, that the participants of this program are solving the problem of labour market integration in Armenia, “They try to acquire new skills and learn a profession, to be able to become a full member of society and to have a place in the labour market”.

The “Reintegration policy for Armenian returnees” program also provides some financial support for starting an own business. Returning migrants also can receive medical care and, if necessary, a temporary accommodation.

Armenian language courses are also organized for those who wish. Participants in this program are provided with reliable information on the legal migration to EU member states, including employment opportunities.
