Member of Parliament of the Republic of Artsakh, Head of “Renaissance” faction Hayk Khanumyan informs that the faction will vote against Bako Sahakyan’s candidacy for presidential elections for a transition period. “It is apparent that the faction is going to vote against. If some other candidates appear, then we will hold a session with the executive body and make a decision afterwards. As regards our faction, we are not nominating any candidates”, explains the opposition MP. As stated by him, in the result of the congresses held by the Parliamentary majority forces the nomination of Bako Sahakyan’s candidacy by the latters was predictable. “Still in those times, when in Artsakh the process of constitutional changes commenced, we had told that all that was happening for power reproduction. I think that all this is also a means to centralize the power in one person’s hands, which will have serious political and economic consequences from the negative perspective to Artsakh. I would like our political forces to be a bearer of ambitions, bringing forth new actors, who will come up with new ideas for the public”, he notes.
Referring to the situation present on the frontline, Hayk Khanumyan tells that Azerbaijan conducts a certain policy in the recent period and tries to impose a scenario of a large-scale war on us. “I think we should have been ready for that still years before when Azerbaijan was expressing his aggression with snipers and subversive groups. Unfortunately, in the result of our inattention and negligence, we had “April of 2016”. After that, engineering operations were implemented on the frontline, but it is not enough in the current situation. I think we should give a rough response, in parallel with which we should have also contemporary means”, opines the MP and adds that the negotiations can give the question a solution solely in the case when the Armenian side undertakes the role of the imposer and the negotiating sides are Stepanakert and Baku, without intermediaries.
