‘Only the international instances’ attention will save the Armenian young man arrested in Baku’, Larisa Alaverdyan

July 11,2017 14:39

“Why hasn’t the RF been clearly talking about the issue before? It is a gross violation of human rights by Azerbaijan”, said the first Ombudsman of Armenia, human rights activist Larisa Alaverdyan.

Let us remind that recently the Russian Foreign Ministry made a statement demanding Azerbaijan to stop its discrimination against Russian citizens, including citizens of Armenian origin, on arrival to the country. The report noted that there were even cases of arrests.

Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan also was arrested for being an Armenian. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment in April, in Baku.

“Ueldanov’s problem is more complicated than Lapshin’s. Lapshin is in the center of attention, including of Israel, and Ueldanov remains under the RF responsibility. A month ago, we received information that Marat’s sister was told that it was the last time she could talk to her brother anymore”, noted Larisa Alaverdyan.

She said, that so far, they have not managed to find out if anyone defends Ueldanov’s rights. “We urged his sister to appeal to all international instances. Only the attention of the international instances will save the young man”.
