It seems, in the beginning of July, the steps undertaken by Azerbaijan towards escalating the situation on the border with Artsakh did not give the political and propagandistic result to which its leadership was aspiring. Not a sole serious evidence to prove the myth of “blood sucking Armenians” has been acquired. It has general and private reasons. The general reason is that, on the one hand, Azerbaijan daily repeats that they will occupy Karabakh, Zangezur, Gyokcha and Erivan by weapon soon enough, from the other hand it says Armenians are the ones who shoot the first. This contradiction of the standpoint, I think, does not promote the acquisition of propagandistic units.
The private reason of Azerbaijan’s failure is that today it is very difficult to hide or fake the reality. It is apparent that to Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries, the satellites of which follow the events taking place in any corner of the world in the on-line regime, knowing the truth was not an issue also 10 or 20 years ago. But to restore the picture after a few hours and to represent to the world is not an issue for countries like us as well. Besides, from the Armenian side, the border is furnished so that everything is being taped and recorded and if necessary, publicized.
The political-military protests of Azerbaijan which were meant to particularly distract the attention from the fact of them selling weaponry to the Islamists and the discontents relative to the human rights have not achieved their objective also by the reason of the difficulties occurred in the relationships with Russia (I suppose, temporary). As stated by the experts, the reason of disagreements is “gas competition”, a field where in the current period of time, the interests of these two countries do not coincide. At the moment, Azerbaijan does not have a “blessing” from Russia to escalate the situation and escalating the situation without the “blessing” it does not receive sufficient diplomatic, political and propagandistic support. It does not signify that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow that “blessing” will not be given. And finally, it seems that the Armenian side changes its strategy. Azerbaijan should feel that in case of any attempt, even the smallest one, the response will be cruel and we will not pay attention to the bluster following that response. Even if the UN adopts not 4 but 144 resolutions.
