July 13,2017 15:38

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Artsakh Karen Aghajanyan told during the interview that at present, 180 hectares of tobacco arable lands are being cultivated in Artsakh, 124 hectares of which in Martuni, 48 hectares in Askeran, and 8 hectares in Martakert. Last year, the arable land totaled 162 hectares.

“Within the past 5 years, Artsakh has been engaged in tobacco cultivation. In recent years, the number of fields is growing”, Karen Aghajanyan noted and added that there is no harvesting problem.

As the deputy minister notes, more than half of the tobacco fields in Martuni region are irrigated by a drip system, which, according to him, makes the work of cultivators more effective.
