In 2018, Armenia will assume the presidency of the Francophonie Organization for two years. Also in the fall of 2018 Armenia will host the Francophonie Organization summit. “Francophonie is also an important platform for us to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations with the member countries. It is extremely important for Armenia to be more open, accessible and affordable to the world, to be extensively involved in international processes.
The fact that the helm of the organization, which has a half-century history, and has played a special role in international relations, was trusted to one of the youngest members, Armenia, as a result of a rather persistent competition, speaks about the authority, confidence and solidarity achieved through the effective foreign policy of our state”, said head of the Armenian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie Margarit Yesayan, speaking at the 43rd Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie in Luxembourg.
The deputy noted that Francophonie which has a great sympathy and popularization among the Armenian society is accompanied by a special attitude towards French culture, which is the basis of the development of Francophonie in Armenia. It is also equally contributed by the close links that exist between Armenia and countries, such as not only France, but also Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Egypt, and many other countries.
