Spring sowing volume increases twice in volume comparing to previous year

Pursuant to the data given by the Ministry of Agriculture of Artsakh, the spring sowing has increased about twice in volume as compared to this period of the previous year. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Artsakh Karen Aghajanyan told that the latest data show that 14734 ha spring sowing has been implemented in Artsakh, instead of 7553 ha of the same period of the previous year.

As stated by him, wheat, barley, spelt, corn, buckwheat, soybeans, linseed, peas, beans, sorgo, potato, tobacco and other vegetable crop sowing has been implemented.    

Referring to the cereal crop harvest, the deputy minister informs: “We have already got harvest of 117042 tons of wheat, barley and spelt from lands of 45925 hectares. 58045 hectares are yet to be harvested.”

As Karen Aghajanyan reports, this year the number of cereal crop harvest is expected to exceed that of the previous year (150k tones), which has been the highest number until now. “Today the average wheat crop yield in Artsakh amounts to 30-32 centner/ha, and 6-7 years ago it accounted for 11-13 centner/ha”, highlights the deputy minister.
