Mother See urged “Golden Apricot” festival leadership to remove 2 films about LGBT people from 2017 program. Mother See spokesman Vahram Melikyan told about this in response to a question.
“Being informed about the screening of these films, yes, the Holy See urged the organizers of the film festival to review their decision, which has been done, taking into consideration the riot of the community in this connection”, said Melikyan.
He also expressed an opinion that the public would not need those films, “Our society does not need such propaganda. Our people are the bearers of Christian faith and the Christian system of values, and naturally, like the Church, cannot accept such phenomenon and its advertisement. Unfortunately, in the last few days, the organizations that stand out for their attitude and “freedom” in this matter by their own steps actually incite intolerance and hatred toward those suffering from this illness. This is unreasonable for us”.
