Russia’s sale of weapons to Azerbaijan is the most painful aspect of Armenian-Russian relations. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said about this at the “R-Evolution” TV program on “Armenia” TV.
“That issue is the most painful aspect of Armenian-Russian friendship, of Armenian-Russian military cooperation, and in general of our relations. That question, in my opinion, shadows a lot of things. But on the other hand, there are circumstances, perhaps not acceptable for us, but acceptable for them. Still, nothing serious has happened. If serious consequences happen, then we can blame. And if there are no serious consequences, we should consider it as a long-term political activity of the Russian side to stabilize the situation in the region”, said Serzh Sargsyan.
As to the remarks on suspension or reduction of cooperation with Russia, the president said that “these are dangerous words, they can create extremely complex situation”.
“When you say, we want to review it, with whom do you want to review and improve? With Turkey? Or is everyone in the NATO waiting with arms wide opened to welcome Armenia? Or are we just becoming hostile to everyone? Or do we tell everyone: you help Azerbaijan and we are alone against the whole world?”, added the Armenian president.
