July 20,2017 17:37

The closing ceremony of “Hakob Gyurjyan” Sculpture International Symposium was held on Wednesday, July 19 at Shushi Fine Arts Museum. For the fifth time Shushi has been hosting sculptors from different countries around the world. This year’s symposium brought together sculptors from India, Egypt, Serbia, Poland, Armenia and Artsakh. And the sculptures created as a result of the symposium are donated to the city, and that donations are housed in Shushi Sculpture Park.

Artsakh Republic Minister of Culture Narine Aghabalyan was present at the closing ceremony of the symposium, who mentioned that this project became a reality thanks to the fact that the idea first of all received a response, “People supported us who did everything they could to make this project a reality. During the Fifth Symposium natives of ancient cultures-Armenian, Indian, Egyptian-worked in our workshop, and this means that they will continue their millennial -cultural dialogue. Thanks to the symposium a beautiful cultural environment, Shushi’s Sculpture Park was created, which is already in the final stage, and the sculptures of our fifth symposium participants have been added there too”.

The minister noted that judging by the number of people visiting these days and watching the works of our sculptors, getting acquainted with the sculptures and in general, by what reactions were made about sculptures, we must say that this is interesting not only for art lovers, but also for all Shushi citizens, tourists and humanity in general.

During the closing ceremony, Indian sculptor Chander Parkash donated his paper sculpture to the Fine Arts Museum. “Symposium is not for one person, it is for people. Without this it would be difficult to hold a symposium”, he said.
