How one rebels

July 22,2017 12:00

I must say that I am for rebellion and I consider myself rebellious. It’s just a matter of against whom and how one rebels.

When I hear “the court is coming”, I automatically, or I would even say instinctively stand up, just like when I hear the national anthem of my country. Regardless of the fact that at this point our Court is not independent, and the judge, as well as all the other officials in Armenia, may be rogue and corrupt. It is the court of the Republic of Armenia and it is the issue of dignity, and even pride. And by that I do not legitimize anyone except me as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia. As my fellow citizens and, moreover, most of the Armenians living abroad does not think, does not feel that way, consider that it is my rebellion, the rebellion against universal nihilism and “Protestantism”.

It’s the same in “household” problems. The government has decided to fine citizens for throwing cigarettes in the streets for 16,000 drams. I cannot imagine how it’s going to be done: is a police officer going to stand next to each smoker and wait until the latter finishes, and depending on where he will throw the remainder of the cigarette, either fine him or not? But the idea itself is, of course, welcoming. Trend “national” reaction to that decision is as follows: “hey, what wages do these poor people get that now you want to fine them for 16 thousand?”. People are rebelling and protesting. To play up to such sloppy, “unshaved” approach “political” and “journalistic” mind also speaks out: “Standing on the unsolvable issue of budgeting, the regime, has decided to extort the additional 16,000 drams from citizens as a last resort. Our reliable sources in Baghramyan 26 say that it has already been decided whose pockets the money will go to”. And so, I rebel against this “national trend”, and say, “keep our city clean”. On the background of today’s public psychology, it is a very original appeal.

Most people rebel by violation, transgression, ignorance towards the state, even hatred, clumsiness, slovenliness, wickedness, ignorance, hasty judgments. Let us rebel against all that by abiding to the law, by kindness and calmness. Each one rebels in his own way.
