The US Congress adopted a draft law on the sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea on July 27, which should be still signed by the US President Donald Trump.
Iranologist Armen Israelian mentioned that those are the former sanctions, a part of which is being prolonged: “If previously they were relative to the nuclear program, and Iran was blamed for the attempt of creating a nuclear weapon, now other concerns are voiced, regarding the rocket systems of Iran. Particularly after Iran’s bombardment of Syria they try to do everything to limit Iran’s extending factor in the region.”
As estimated by the expert, the sanctions, naturally, will have a negative influence on Iran’s economy. What influence they will have on Armenia-Iran relations, Armen Israelian states: “Issues may occur regarding banking system and making investments. However, I think if we have certain agreements on definite programs between us and Iran, I am sure we will have no problem. We have experience of a successful partnership with Iran of previous years.”
