Arman Navasardyan: US-RF contradictions challenge Armenian diplomacy

August 01,2017 17:39

The use of sanctions against the Russian Federation by the United States, was not an unexpected step for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan, because the United States is entering a stage of realization of geopolitical interests. Speaking about the current geopolitical situation, Mr. Navasardyan said, that these sanctions are directed not only against Russia: the United States has a target in the Far East and the Middle East: Iran, and the RF in Eurasia.

The ambassador does not agree with the analysts that this is a temporary problem and will soon settle down. Based on today’s realities and problems that the United States is facing, he believes that this will last for decades. “The decisions made by the US Congress and Senate do not depend on any president, party, or political situation. It cannot be eliminated anymore. If this is not a cold war, it is an economic war against Russia, and the problem is that it deals with the interests of other states”, the speaker said, adding that the US is not able to abandon its hegemonic ambitions.

In any case, according to the diplomat, tensions with the US for official Moscow are a good opportunity to develop a European vector. Time will show what will happen. At the same time, he notes that Russia changes its political vector and goes to the East. “Russia and the United States have a muscular policy”, stated the diplomat.
