The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia proposes to develop the economic component of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia by approving the economic standards of targeting countries, the list of target countries, criteria for evaluating the performance of economic activity of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Armenia in foreign countries through the government’s decision. The question is included in the agenda of the regular session of the Government of Armenia on August 3.
The structure governed by Eduard Nalbandian, which praises the Eurasian Economic Union, EAEU, offers a list of target countries selected on the basis of economic standards: Russia, USA, China, Iran, Georgia, UAE, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Lebanon, Benelux countries: Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. So, there are 14 countries, one of which only is from EAEU: Russia. Most of the countries, 6 of them, are European.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also presented the economic standards of targeting countries with the list: level of bilateral trade and economic relations, presence of the Armenian community, availability of geographical and infrastructural capacities, availability of demand for products or services offered by Armenia, etc.
In the Armenian Foreign Ministry, in fact, they believe that only the last of the four countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia – can be involved in economic projects, at least in the near future. But with these four we are in the organization called the Eurasian Economic Union.
The organization, which was called economic by Armenian state officials despite the claims of analysts that it is a political structure. If you do not see economic cooperation with Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in the economic component of your country’s development policy, if they do not fit in the realm of economic development by your set standards, if the products or services you offer do not attract them, how have you united with them in the economic union?
At the RPA congress on November 26, 2016, Serzh Sargsyan said, “Everyone must admit that any public speech requires serious preparation, and homework”. Being a member of the EAEU praising government, classifying EAEU as defective means that Eduard Nalbandian had not done his homework.
