Iranologist Armen Israyelyan states that the visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to Iran was important both from the aspects of politics and economy and from the perspective of security.
“From the political aspect it was important inasmuch as firstly Armenia was represented in South Caucasus at a high level, this was a message to the newly elected authorities of Iran constituting that Armenia is loyal to the announcements made in regard with developing the relations with Iran and is ready to bring the agreements acquired in recent years to life”, informed Armen Israyelyan.
He is convinced that this step of the official Yerevan will be valued by Iran, this witness also the positive publications and analyses on the development of the Armenian-Iranian relations by the Iranian media.
“From the economic angle the visit of the president was important inasmuch as the leaders of both states had an opportunity to discuss the issues in the field of economy which we should realize in the near future at a high level”, continued Mr. Israyelyan emphasizing that the questions discussed during the visit to Iran concerned a number of fields: “As regards the security, the announcement of the President of Iran on Nagorno Karabakh issue was very important. During the meeting with Serzh Sargsyan Rouhani announced that Iran will do everything not to allow destabilization nearby its borders. This was first and foremost an important message to Azerbaijan… If formerly the stress was put on the economic component in the relations with Azerbaijan, often times leaving aside the questions of security, now I think that Iran will review its policy.”
