“Russia will feel the consequences of these sanctions still for a very long time, the opportunities of which in the economic field will be greatly limited. We should expect Russia not to put up with it and try to apply certain counter-sanctions. And it is not compulsory for those sanctions to be in the field of economy”, stated Orientalist, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences, Ruben Safrastyan, referring to the new sanctions against Russia by the US.
According to him, those sanctions are a claim of economic war to Russia: “In response, Russia will try to activate politics in the world and acquire new allies. It is not excluded that it will strengthen its process of militarization and try to get rid of USD as a means for trade transactions.”
As regards Armenia, Russia’s friend, Ruben Safrastyan notes that the controlled and stable relations of superpowers are favorable for a country like us.
