Member of Armenian National Congress, PhD of Economics, Zoya Tadevosyan criticized the authorities for persecuting “Sasna Tsrer”, during the interview with Aravot.am. According to her, “The fact of Sasna Tsrer indicates that the political field in our country is seriously ill”.
We clarified: You talked about the persecutions of “Sasna Tsrer”, but the ANC did not specifically admit the actions of “Sasna Tsrer”, did not justify the attempt to take power by arms, Zoya Tadevosyan responded, “The ANC’s assessment of the Sasna Tsrer was quite right, in the sense that internal political issues cannot be solved by military means or weapons. The result of a political tense situation could have been so disastrous, that the achievements gained after that would not be equivalent to the results at all. It could have turned into a civil war. Luckily, they realized it too. I think, that the actions of “Sasna Tsrer” may receive various assessments, but in any case, in my opinion, they were trying to awaken the spirit of struggle among the people. The fact that they handed over the weapons proved that. I cannot imagine that they would try to create conflict among different segments of people, that was not possible”.
As to the persecutions, according to Zoya Tadevosyan, this is another issue: “The trial, the lawyers’ persecutions, the situation that has been created after that is equivalent to the totalitarian system, which existed during the Soviet era. Today’s authorities do not differ from Brezhnev’s heirs, therefore, whatever happens, happens adequately, what they have learned in their educational level, in upbringing, in their career”.
