President’s Advisor and Secretary of Free Zones Coordination Council Akbar Torkan conferred on Wednesday with Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan on expansion of cooperation at Free Trade Zones in both countries. IRNA reports.
During the meeting, Torkan underlined that Iran and Armenian high-ranking officials have called for the expansion of economic and commercial relations between the two countries mainly at Free Trade Zones.
The two countries can help build factories to promote employment and bring about economic boom in both sides, Torkan said.
Referring to geographical location of Armenia and its access to Black Sea and Europe, Armenia can act as a bridge connecting Iran to Europe and prepare grounds for transit of Iranian-made products to the European continent, Torkan said.
The Armenian minister, for his part, said Armenian government has written the blueprint for the country’s Development Program for 2025 and enthusiastically call for active presence of Iran’s state-run and private sectors to help implement these projects.
Armenia attaches importance to the expansion of economic and investment cooperation with Iran at FTZ’s as well as tourism industry, he said.
