August 17,2017 17:38

The regular court session on “Amulsar” was proceeding in Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia. Let us remind you that 12 residents of Gndevaz village of Vayots Dzor province, “EcoRight” and “Eco-century” environmental NGOs have submitted an application to the court for already over 1 year requiring to cancel the documents permitting the exploitation օֆ Amulsar gold mine.

During the session which lasted 1,5 hours, the court put the grounds of the competence of the mentioned NGOs and the residents of Gndevaz being claimants under doubt. “It is not important whether an explosion or a dust will occur, it will affect Gndevaz anyway, consequently, it is regarded an affected community. If the disputing party is the affected community, then the latter is considered a proper claimant”, insisted the lawyer representing the lawsuit of Gndevaz residents and eco-organizations, Hayk Alumyan.

The representative of “Lydian Armenia” company which had received the right to mine exploitation, lawyer Sayad Badalyan in his turn agreed that Gndevaz may be the affected community. The session was delayed and appointed on August 30, at 11:00 AM.

“I see an intention in the dispute of the fact of the NGOs being a proper claimant”, told environmentalist Karine Danielyan, who was present in the session.

As regards what destiny the struggle of the environmentalists will have eventually, Karine Danielyan noticed: “When Karen Karapetyan was just appointed in the PM’s position, we had a meeting with him and with several environmentalists. He told that it is late to speak of Amulsar, the issue is solved, the works have commenced.”
