The ecologist believes there to be such people anyway

It’s too early to give estimates about the damage caused by the fire in the “Khosrov Forest” reserve, although according to preliminary data, 3000 hectares have been burned. Ecologist Karine Danielyan told “Aravot”, that the problem is not only the loss of biodiversity but also the factor of impact on climate change after the fire. “I’m afraid that after a while they might say Khosrov is no longer a reserve, that they can no longer make it a reserve. I hope that will not happen, but there will be such people anyway. We must be ready for it”, Ms. Danielyan expressed doubts.

She stresses that the fire will leave its health problems in Yerevan and surrounding areas: “Green Areas of Khosrov reserve are of great importance for all Ararat region and Yerevan. Khosrov is not just biodiversity, but a microclimate, an air pool cleaner… so I’m very sorry for what happened, it was very dramatic. These days also showed that we are not ready to withstand disasters. My anxiety concerns little aviation, which we need to have. On those days of fire, officials said that it was difficult to approach the burning areas because there were no roads, but the reserve should not have such roads, otherwise it will not be called a reserve. So, we must have had a proper air technique. We regularly raise the issue, but there is no response”.

Karine Danielyan says, that nowadays humanity lives in a period when the planet instability is caused by human activity: “This is the planet’s answer to humanity. Every day we hear and see that there is a fire somewhere in the world, and a flood, or an earthquake in another. Therefore, we must be ready for such phenomena, whereas we keep calm, which is wrong”.
