The United States has appointed a new permanent co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. As Richard Hoagland, the interim US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, stated in Washington, his powers expire on August 28, and the will be replaced with Andrew Schofer.
According to the report by Voice of America Armenian service, Richard Hoagland’s remarks were made during the round-table in Washington, attended by reporters.
In Hoagland’s words, Andrew Schofer is “a very experienced senior US diplomat, who most recently served as our charge d’affaires at the US Mission for International Organizations in Vienna.” He also had an experience in dealing with number of conflicts, the Cyprus issue among them.
“The current US administration has not changed its position regarding the Karabakh settlement. America’s approaches in this matter are unchanged, regardless of the change of the co-chairman, Hoagland said, as quoted by the source.
