Around 150 women representing the private sector in Belarus met in the country’s capital Minsk last week for the first national business conference entitled “Business territory: Women’s approach”. Organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of a project jointly funded with the European Union, the event looked at leadership in business, management and innovation, and other aspects of running a business.
“I am developing my business with caution,” said Elena Sergieva, a participant in the conference. ”I am grateful for this opportunity to be surrounded by fellow businesswomen who openly share their achievements.”
The event is part of the EBRD’s Women in Business programme, which isimplemented in the six countries of the Eastern Neighbourhood and co-funded by the EU under its EU4Business initiative and other donors.
According to the EBRD, the programme offers a toolbox of services to promote women’s entrepreneurship, including financing through local partner financial institutions, technical assistance for participating financial institutions and business advice for female entrepreneurs.
