‘Gorik Hakobyan did not give anything useful, moreover, none after his death, he took everything with him’: Bakhshyan

This year marks the 18th anniversary of the tragic incident of October 27. Former Chief of the National Statistical Service, Gorik Hakobyan was one of the most important witnesses of October 27, who possessed information needed. After his death, the relatives of the victims of October 27, particularly – Yuri Bakhshyan’s wife – Anahit Bakhshyan, feels a pity: “Gorik Hakobyan took a massive information with him. Such serious information possesses also Gagik Jhangiryan. But as soon as particularly I, as a suffered party, do not scream about re-initiating the case, that there are facts, that case should be re-investigated, no one is interested in initiating it, I do not speak of the opposite. They want to silence, roll that case in a thick carpet and leave somewhere dark. The revelation of that case, nevertheless, will not happen in the near future, in the presence of the incumbent authorities. Who will try to examine that case again? As a suffered party, my hands do not rise, I am puzzled, I do not know how to do it, with whom to do it, do it or not to do it? Gorik Hakobyan was alive during these years, but he did not give anything useful, moreover, none after his death, he took everything with him.”

To our question, implying that relative to October 27’s case few witnesses have remained who possess serious information, you mentioned Gagik Jhangiryan’s name, also Nairi Hunanyan is still alive, have you tried to meet with them throughout these years? Have you tried to receive information from them which would help the revelation of the case? Anahit Bakhshyan replied: “No, I have not done it, I have not met with Jhangiryan on that issue, moreover, with Nairi. I feel I am to blame, from that perspective. I also try to justify myself, but I know it is not a justification. I have not made any step towards that. I have not decided and cannot decide on how  it  should be done now as well. Suppose, I go and meet with Gagik Jhangiryan, what will he tell me? If he wanted to tell anything – he would have already told and done.”
