Dead season

October 11,2017 12:39

Most of the political forces of Armenia are in a deep sleep. I remember what was going on a year ago, what promises, what self-confidence, what nice wording. And now? Press clubs are on tenterhooks waiting for political figures, but those people who once expressed conviction to become the majority in the parliament, do not want to be shot by cameras today. They do not even want to complain that they actually won the elections, but they did not appear in the parliament because the results of the elections were rigged.

Do you remember that there are such parties as “Heritage”, ANC, “Orinats Yerkir”, “Unity”, and some more? Or maybe there are not anymore? But it seems nobody has declared dissolution. If they have not entered the parliament, then what, they do not have anything to say? Or perhaps their ideas are exhausted during the election campaign. If so, that’s a pity.

I think we have a wrong idea about a political struggle. Our politicians think that their mission is limited to shouting three months before the election and one month in the post-election period. During the next 4-5 years, they can relax from politics and deal with their everyday problems. True, sometimes there are moments when someone from beyond or within the state agrees to spend money on a “regime change” project, and then again there is a need to shout, but these “extraordinary” projects in Armenia also fail, and “flaming” figures sooner or later get off the stage. In the rest of the time, there is neither a reason to think about ideological and organizational work, and perhaps nor money. In 2022 the demand for “flaming” speeches will again rise, which again will be followed by 5 years of “dead season”.

This situation is not only painful, but also dangerous. Because when there are no political forces operating within the law and the rules of the game, who fight actively at the same time, then marginal, extremist, violent and illegitimate forces appear, who still do not reach their goal, but damage the state. Yes, the state not the government.

So, dear politicians, wake up.
