I have repeatedly written that any personal attack, no matter who the target of the attack is, is unacceptable to me. Especially if the targeted person is the Minister of Defence of a warring country. Those interested can check the “Aravot” achieve and see that I was as much against the “unbridled” statements addressed to Seyran Ohanyan, especially to his family as well. The structure headed by him, yes, had (and has) many defects but those are the defects not only of the army but of the entire state system. Recently one of my colleagues has quite appropriately written, that it is not possible to keep a certain link of this mechanism “clean”, all of the links should be gradually cleaned. But to self-establish by personally insulting the Minister of Defence (a tradition that comes from Vazgen Sargsyan’s times), is a doubtful method of obtaining glory.
However, we should understand that such is our political culture, our society, and in this case we can again state that the politicians are selling a “product” that is in demand, that is the aggressive, blabbering, “shrewish” style. Exactly due to this one can obtain fans, likes, exciting exclamations, etc.
There is one more thing that is well-sold in Armenia, “revealing conspiracies”. Whenever you do not like something, you immediately throw a cunning and mysterious expression on someone’s face and whisper, “I know where it all comes from”. And since we are heavily influenced by Russian political culture, the mysterious “evil centre”, covered in mist, has specific names: the West, in its entirety, Jews, Masons or “Jude Masons” (in fact, too ignorant formulation), world power centres, LGBT community, and, of course, Soros.
The idea that the goal of the whole world and all “dark” forces is to harm Armenia and Armenians is a result of narrow-mindedness, little reading, and little thinking. And also, it’s easier to live that way: if I admit that people are guided by their own beliefs (right or wrong), then maybe I will try to understand them. And to say, “he makes an order,” means to avoid considering someone else’s thoughts.
Shrewishness on the one hand, search for conspiracy on the other. No time left for thinking.
