For “Bright Armenia” faction, the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Republican Party of Armenia and “Armenian Renaissance” party Vanadzor region branches was not a surprise. The leader of “Bright Armenia” faction, Christ Manukyan informed that this memorandum has no connection with Mamikon Aslanyan’s urge. Mamikon Aslanyan had posted on his Facebook page, calling on the factions of the Council of Elders to participate in the sessions: “Dear members of Vanadzor Council of Elders from BAP, ARP and PPA: I suggest and urge you to take part in the sessions of the City of Council and become part of the city governance to jointly overcome the issues standing in front of Vanadzor, to provide the natural life process of the city, to implement a participatory governance, to the benefit of Vanadzor… More than ever Vanadzor has a need of devotion and true caringness…”
“I do not think this memorandum is a response to the mayor’s announcement. They were steps planned a little earlier, or emanating from the decision of the Constitutional Court, which were implemented by the RPA”, explained Christ Marukyan. As stated by the leader of the faction, it is more than evident which faction has voted for the RPA candidate: “This what took place, it is the situation created is the result of our one-year-struggle, during which we tried to unveil the majority, 19 people, due to which RPA candidate had become the mayor. Now it is evident to all, what took place then and what takes place now. This is the logical continuation of it. Simply people delayed the process for a year, trying to hide what had taken place, but now everything is evident.”
Let us remind you that until the elections, “Bright Armenia”, “Armenian Renaissance” and “Prosperous Armenia” parties had signed a partnership memorandum: “The memorandum we signed referred to exactly the actions-to-be-implemented in the first session. If those actions took place as it was stipulated in the agreement, they would have had a continuation. But as much as the very first point was violated during the elections carried out within the Council, the memorandum became a nothing after the elections.”
During the interview Marukyan assured once again, that they were not going to participate in Council of Elders’ sessions: “We will not take part, inasmuch as we see anti-constitutional sessions continue. Now we do not know what situation will come about in the result of the memorandum signed, however, the decisions published by the Constitutional Court has referred to the sessions taken place until now, which are against law. That is, the Council of Elders of Vanadzor has operated illegally until currently. Subsequently, anything but the option of dissolving it and implementing new elections we expected. And now we do not find that any other option is correct and lawful, taking into consideration the very decisions of the Constitutional Court.”
