The media have recently touched upon the issue of widespread deforestation in the administrative district of Davtashen. The Investigation Department of the Mashtots Police Department found out that the trees were cut down by the instruction of former MP Ruben Gevorgyan’s daughter, Armenuhi Gevorgyan, registered in Menatun, Davtashen address.

Araratnews.am contacted former MP Ruben Gevorgyan to receive a comment. “I own the territory. The trees were withered and putrid. Even if not putrid, those are my trees and I have the right to cut down. This is my own territory and garden”, said the former MP, then reminded, that when he was the first district head in Davtashen, he planted 55,000 trees.

According to Ruben Gevorgyan, in the place of the trees, the continuation of the “Reebok” sports club will be built: “As we built the “Reebok” and Davtashen people felt like in heaven, now we will build something better for them. Is there anything bad in that?”.

The former deputy denied that materials have been prepared at the Investigation Department of Mashtots Police Department: “The police did not prepare any materials, they visited and were convinced that it has been a personal property for 20 years and that there was also a building permit, and they left. No case was initiated”.
