“I do not expect serious progress in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement in the near future. I think it is a long process. It is difficult to expect such a thing in case of current existing sentiments, including the sentiments the leadership of Azerbaijan currently holds”, Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the Russian State Duma, said at the video conference at the “Sputnik Armenia” press club.
According to him, Azerbaijan has put itself in a deadlock with its rhetoric and cannot get out from there, and thus it blocks the prospect of a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“I regard Nagorno-Karabakh as a self-determined territory and I do not think that it will ever be returned to Azerbaijan under any circumstance. It is, in my opinion, an absolutely impossible option for development of events”, added the Russian deputy.
Zatulin believes that if Russia and the West trust each other, they will be able to announce a solution to the Artsakh conflict.
